BTL Summer Closures

It's time for Summer Vacation!

It's been a few weeks of adjustment, but we've made it to our annual Summer Vacation time!

We know it may seem odd to take time off after the Quarantine measure lifted a bit, but just as we are sure you need time with your families in the sunshine and good weather, we do as well.

Our clinic will be closed:

August 3rd, 2020 (The Civic Holiday)
as well as
August 8th - 16th, 2020

Anyone that we need to notify or reschedule will be contacted in the next few weeks.

Thank you for your patience with us - it has been quite a learning curve for us as well, as our beloved and much relied upon Miss Cindi worked from home.

Thank you for your patience with us! (Mostly me, Miss Emilie. It's been a while since I tried desk work)

Enjoy the sun and nice weather - we cannot wait to hear about your adventures when we return.

BTL is Re-Opening!

We have now been given the directive from Ontario’s Chief Medical Officer of Health and College of OTs of Ontario to begin the opening of our clinic following the infection control practices.

Please bear with us as we navigate through these uncharted waters.

Our clinic will operate with one clinic room open at one time. That will mean 1 child and 1 parent in attendance. We will stagger the appointments to allow for cleaning. Our doors will be locked until we open them for your specific appointment time.

Due to our usual hot and humid weather please wait in your air conditioned vehicle if you arrive early.

Payments must now be taken at each appointment. Please note, due to the increase in staffing, as well as a cost of necessary PPE, prices will increase in the near future.

We will be scheduling the appointments over the next few weeks, and we will get back to you with your available appointment times.

Please discuss the following with your children:

  • Children and adults must wear masks

  • Please introduce this idea to your child. Obtain a mask for your child and practice wearing it at home.

  • We intend for most of the staff to remain the same, however some staff will change depending on daily health check ins, as well as local news and up-to date quarantine information.

  • How to wash hands for 20 seconds or more.

  • How we cover our mouths when sneezing or coughing (elbow cover preferable).

We also ask that with your appointment reminder, you fill out, sign, and bring with you, the COVID-19 survey for EACH appointment you are attending. If the form is not filled out and signed by the beginning of the session, the session will wait to start for this form to be signed. This form verifies that there were no visible, or known active symptoms at the beginning of your session.

Please keep us as updated as you are; if your child, our client, comes down with any corona-virus like symptoms, please call us ASAP so we may trace any contact with said client and keep everyone as informed and disinfected as possible.

These precautions are all to keep our beloved clients safe, as well as to keep our staff safe so we may continue working with our clients into the future.

CLOSED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE

Effective immediately, Back to Life Rehabilitation and Occupational Therapy Services is closed due to the social isolation policies surrounding COVID-19.

We will continue to check our messages, and we will update our status as to whether or not it is safe to open for business.

Please check our facebook for updates, or our website.

COVID-19 and BTL's Response

We at Back to Life Rehabilitation are taking the following precautions as the news about COVID-19 continues to evolve.

- We will remain open for scheduled appointments.
- We will still be closed for our extended weekend at the end of the school's scheduled March Break : Friday March 20th, and Saturday March 21st.
- We will continue to use our hospital grade sanitizing and disinfecting products.
- We will end each session 10 minutes earlier, as our staff needs the time between sessions to ensure the sanitation of the room for your child.

If you have been outside of Canada recently, we ask that you not enter Back to Life Rehabilitation for at least 14 days since your return to Canada.

Our staff is remaining in the country for the time being, and we continue to monitor ourselves, and keep ourselves informed of signs and symptoms as the news evolves.

Your health and safety are our number one priority at Back to Life Rehabilitation, and we hope that you will be able to assist us in keeping our community as healthy as possible by keeping communication with us open, as we will with you.

Wishes of Health and Safety from us all at

We would like to extend an invitation for you to attend a meeting with Lisa Gretzky on April 27, 2018 at 5:30pm here at our new Facility at Back to Life.

We will be discussing Sensory Processing Disorder, how it needs to be recognized with the Disability Tax Credit. As well discussing the need to have Sensory Integration Therapy funded through the government.

Change only begins when we band together as a community to make change. Lisa is a great advocate for individuals who have disabilities fighting for our rights and interests. We are looking forward to her working with us.

Breakthrough Study Reveals Biological Basis for SPD in Kids!

Sensory Processing Disorders affect 5 to 16 percent of school aged children, but it has not been linked to a biological reason until now. These findings point the way to establishing a biological basis that can be easily measured and used as a diagnostic tool.

Children with SPD struggle with how to process stimulation, symptoms include hypersensitivity to sound, sight and touch, poor fine motor skills, and easy distractibility. Some cannot tolerate the sound of a vacuum, while others can't hold a pencil or struggle with social interaction.
